inspiration

i’ve been a b-a-a-a-a-d blogger. Events (or, rather, NON-events) have been pressing me down…my “maybe” good news of a few weeks ago has not come to fruition, and I’m trying to keep my chin up, but…sometimes it’s just hard.

i’ve also had a little unfortunate run of no-show models recently, which is frustrating and tres bad for business 😦 so while i haven’t been taking many pictures of my own lately, I am constantly looking at other people’s work. there are a number of photographers whose work I look to for inspiration – past and present, famous and unknown.

Jeanloup Sieff was a very well-known and highly-acclaimed fashion and art photographer during the second half of the (oh dear, I always get confused on which century it is/was, ha)…the second half of the LAST century 🙂 Sieff first fell in love with photography when he received a plastic camera as a gift for his fourteenth birthday, and he tried using photography as a way to meet girls (!), but instead he started on a lifelong path as a talented artist.

He shot for all the biggies – Esquire, Glamour, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar.

I find his work so crisp – there’s something about “old fashioned” black and whites that I rarely see duplicated today – *I* certainly can’t do it! And his subjects are sort of alluring and haunting at the same time…while being very simple and to the point.

Here are some of my favorites…

til next time….
xoxo
